Short version: yes, I recommend this "Alcohol you later" puzzle. I am an avid "puzzler" and somewhat critical of puzzles. This one meets most of my requirements.Basically, there are a number of characteristics that I look for in good puzzles. This puzzle meets most of them. First, the pieces are a good size, sturdy, and of good quality, which is particularly important for the older puzzle players, and goes a long way toward repeated, rather than one-time use. Next, the edges are sharply defined so the pieces fit together nicely, this is also important because lower quality puzzles allow putting the wrong pieces together with a sloppy joining.Beyond that, the included poster is much easier to use to identify portions of the picture than just using the outside of the box (which is often obscured by labels). The resealable bag is another benefit for repeated use, and also for sharing, instead of a box of loose pieces. The picture itself is also attractive and inviting, and the play on words in the title ("AlcoholYouLater") is funny. The only downsides, that kept this from a full five stars, are that the picture has nearly a quarter covered in dark, nearly indistinguishable colored area. It is less fun to assemble, when the only clue is shape and not picture. The other is the lack of what my best puzzles contain... letters on the back of the pieces, indicating which section of the puzzle is their destination (to be used when other methods fail.)So yes, I recommend this puzzle, for those interested in 1000 piece, well constructed puzzles.
The box and overall presentation here is really good (other than some misspellings) and the cut on the puzzle pieces is as expected for a quality puzzle. The pieces feel premium and the image is 'one' with the piece (doesn't peel or feel glued-on). I also appreciate the larger copy of the image slipped inside the box (folded in half twice) to aid in assembly (though it's still much, much smaller than the puzzle).Where i'm not as much a fan is the base image. The image (other than the yellow, white, and blue letters) is pretty blurry so when you're trying to fit pieces together it's really difficult to tell what you're even looking at. Given that the image is very likely AI-generated I'm not really sure why the image quality should be so low - especially when the letters are so crisp. The other thing is that there is a LOT of dark/black on this which means you're really just brute-forcing the entire lower left corner of the puzzle. Sure, puzzles like this aren't necessarily meant to be easy but that much black is just not fun; you just have to sit there and try fitting pieces together randomly and hope you eventually get there. Finally, we ended up ruining the 'reusable bag' trying to get it open so when it goes back in the box, it's going in a ziploc bag that won't self destruct the next time we try and put the puzzle together...which is to say probably never because once we finish this thing I'm not likely going to want to do it again, mostly due to the sea of black. It's just not fun...which seems counter to the whole vibe the manufacturer is going for.Given the quality and the fact that some people might like a challenge like this, I'll knock off just one star.
Fun puzzle to piece together. Beautiful picture. Great quality with a nice glossy finish. Be sure to have great lighting when doing this puzzle because of the darker areas. It is a little hard to see the designs on the pieces. I am a little bummed because the puzzle came with the one piece missing. I would recommend with the notification that a piece is missing.
Finally got around to doing this puzzle, and it was definitely fun. It comes with a poster that is printed on thick paper, and the pieces come in a resealable plastic bag, which is nice. The puzzle itself is very low dust, so it's not messy. My only complaints are the pieces are very thin, and are pretty small. It's not always obvious that some pieces go together or not. Also, the pieces are very shiny, so you get a bit of glare from overhead lights, which makes it hard to see. However, we loved the theme, and had fun putting it together.
This is a fairly difficult puzzle - half the puzzle is dark without any real distinguishing features and takes quite a bit of time to solve. I appreciate the matte finish of the puzzle - makes it easier to distinguish markings without getting glare from an overhead light source. There is an included poster to guide you, but it is not full size unfortunately, so not as helpful as it could be.
